Where do I begin? Saw so much today. Martina Hingis was coaching a strong looking girl wearing Mizuno, nobody knew who it was. Hingis started her off with a unique warm up around the court, then added shadow swings and then short jogs across the court. My pal Andrew Lake commented that Hingis' body has changed, it's more long and thin now, like a model. Hingis looks fantastic. Saw Mikhail Youzhny in three separate practice sessions, first with Ferrer - supposedly Rob Lowe was there watching but I didn't see him, then Kohlschreiber and presumably, finally with Dolgopolov on grandstand. I don't think Youzhny had a fourth hit but you never know. Spoke with his long time coach Brois Sobkin extensively about his memories and experiences with Federer for my book, he said Mischa hasn't beaten Fed since US Open junior doubles and came the closest in Halle once. Jan Michael Gambill is here with Coco Vandeweghe, who needs either one great win or two bad wins to get her confidence back. She's so close says Jan Mike, who also shared memories of his four ATP matches with Federer.Jack Sock got a big three set win in qualies vs. Stakhovsky.Saw Amelie Mauresmo on court hitting/coaching with young French player Pauline Parmentier after she watched Marion Bartoili's practice with Dad Walter, against Cibulkova. Amelie still looks great on court, who could forget her flowing backhand.Dr. Ivo lost his qualies match to a player named Struff from Germany, then was seen an hour or so later on the Har Tru working on his clay game for the upcoming clay part of the schedule. Got to do a Jamie Hampton Biofile today.Andy Murray was practicing with Andujar on stadium and looked pretty listless and achy. A good crowd was on hand to see Andy.Spotted Steve Darcis leaving the front entrance and asked him for a Biofile but he said he was in a rush to get to the hotel and catch a plane. Guess he lost in qualies. Spoke with Nick Bollettieri about Rios and Federer, also Nick told us about his experience speaking with the New York Yankees at their spring training base a couple weeks ago. He said Jeter has a US Open box and Joe Girardi's wife is a huge tennis fan. Nick had some interesting insights about Rios, saying he thinks his parents might not have done a good job on teaching him how to better treat people with respect and manners.
